Apart from the orders for illustrations, Jean Delpech worked all his life, and for his own pleasure, on several series of drawings, inspired by writer’s text (Les Jours et les Nuits de Stalingrad by Constantin Simonov. 1948, Regain by Jean Giono vers 1952), as well as some linked to a theme (cf.Babel).
He also, for all his life, filled notebooks with works (mixed technique, ink and painting) of great diversity, which revealed his inner world.
These were made without any constraint, over long periods of time, and only following his imagination.
Another book was translated by both Micheline and Jean Delpech, illustrated by Jean and written by hand by Micheline: Macbeth by Shakespeare (exemplaire unique, 1947).
