Mythological fantaisies
In the French Hanoi high school Jean Delpech received a classical education, with Greek and Latin.
The mythological stories he studied stayed printed in his memory. He later widely used this inspiration source. Icarus, the Minotaur, Argonauts, mermaids and centaurs, Poseîdon, Athena, gods, goddesses, nymphs (Daphné…) and heroes dwelt in his world. He used them for their symbolic dimension, and sometimes brought them into the modern world (Icarus flies with a wing) or into a parallel world, half fantastic and half futurist.
